Safeguarding Small Wonders Preschool

Keeping your children safe and healthy is important to us, this includes Health and safety and Child Protection.

All staff undertake and regularly update Health and Safety training, Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Allergy Awareness and Infection Prevention and Control. We have achieved the Smile award for offering healthy snacks and having an awareness of dental health. We have also received the Healthy Early Years award which looks at various healthy practices and activities within our preschool.

We have a number of checklists and assessments to ensure our practices, procedures and our environment maintains a high standard.



Jackie O'Dowd, our manager is an experienced safeguarding lead and is our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) 

Jackie is supported by two deputies Kirsty Mills our supervisor and Katie Jones our Deputy supervisor.

All of the above staff have attended DSL training and receive annual updates.

Our Designated officer from our Committee of parents is Charlotte Crane. She has attended the trustees role in Safeguarding training and also attends any inhouse training and updates regarding safeguarding children. 

All staff complete a safeguarding training course and receive an annual inhouse update session. In addition to Child Protection awareness training staff also complete an E Safety course, The Duty of Prevent (regarding radicalisation and terrorism), FGM awareness ( female genital mutilation) and Behaviour management. All staff have regard to Keeping Children Safe In Education part 1 (KCSIE).
